Yves Darondeau, Emmanuel Priou (Bonne Pioche), Philippe de Bourbon, and Serge Hayat partnered to launch ((Echo Studio)), the first European film studio dedicated exclusively to the production and distribution of films that address social and environmental issues. Climate change, education, health, human rights, and peace are some of the themes the studio will cover through both feature films and documentaries distributed on all formats (cinema, TV, e-cinema, web).
The films will target a broad audience; they will play an active role in effecting social change and in helping to create a sustainable and peaceful world by encouraging citizens to act.
((Echo Studio)) will use grants from endowment funds and private equity funding to finance and release its own films as well as other films produced by French and foreign partners.
«This new venture will operate parallel to our activity at Bonne Pioche and will be independent and complementary to our mission as cinema and TV producers. ((Echo Studio)) will also allow us to support films developed by other producers and in doing so, promote our core humanistic values. »
Yves Darondeau and Emmanuel Priou (Bonne Pioche)
«((Echo Studio)) will aim at promoting social change and progressive values not only through movies, but also through partnerships with institutes and non-governmental organizations. »
Philippe de Bourbon, CEO, ((Echo Studio))
«We are responsible for the world that we will leave to our children. With that purpose in mind, we will give ((Echo Studio)) the means to contribute to a better world.»
To make sure that its films gain the visibility they deserve, ((Echo Studio)) has entered into two exclusive partnerships with:
- The Walt Disney Company, France, who will oversee the distribution of feature films and theatrical documentaries in France
- Charades (Carole Baraton, Yohann Comte and Pierre Mazars), who will run their international sales
«The ’s editorial line of ((Echo Studio)) represents what we value at Disney France: films that contribute to an evolving vision of the world and raise awareness on large social issues with the goal of inspiring change. Just as we did with On the way to school, Premier cri, and Farewell my teacher, the films of ((Echo Studio)) will be promoted with great passion and enthusiasm in order to ensure the widest possible exposure.»
Jean-François Camilleri, Country Manager, The Walt Disney Company, France
«The choice of acquisitions that we have made up to this point is heavily weighted towards socially engaging films. In fact, this partnership with ((Echo Studio)) has developed in an entirely organic manner, and we, Charades, are very proud to welcome and represent this label.»
